the pint sized lad from the emerald isle charmed his way deeper into my heart with a warm, heartfelt and entertaining performance. I don't care what any of you say - or how sick you are of blowers daughter - Damien live is a wonderful experience.

neko case 01-02-07
her wonderful album 'Fox confessor brings the flood" was one of my stand outs of 2006, but nothing compares to Neko in person. Despite sweltering temperatures in the Spanish club, Neko and band delivered a powerful and energetic show. it's a treat to see her on such an intimate stage - but I can imagine that with her increased popularity the days of the smaller venue are numbered.
(for those interested there will be more about the gig on my music blog.)
critical mass - 26/01/07
After a very long flight back and the added drama of the ipod loss, I needed something to keep me awake and excited about being back in Melbourne. Luckily being the last Friday of the month it was critical mass day - a chance for bikes to take over the streets of melbourne and remind people that the car is not the only option. (especially in such a bike friendly place like Melbourne) It was a perfect day for getting out amongst it and as the website says for "transforming a dreary commute into a radiant celebration of a vibrant urban life and reclaiming of public space" A few of the guys bring speakers along so they pump out the tunes as we carry the parade through the streets. (I can't wait till I do this again with my yet to be purchased new bike - i.e one with working brakes and gears!)
for more information on critical mass go here. I urge all melbournites to get involved, it's a great afternoon out - and usually they go for beers afterwards, so is a nice little social venture as well. :)
